## Affect and Action
The relationship between affect and action loops is a dynamic interplay where the affect loop, driven by emotional reactions, informs the rate of progress towards goals (action loop). When the affect loop senses a discrepancy in progress, it adjusts the intensity of action to either increase effort when lagging (approach) or decrease it when facing potential threats (avoidance). This two-layered system allows for swift yet stable responses, enabling quick adaptation to changing circumstances without excessive fluctuation.
## Engagement
The active involvement or commitment to a task or situation, characterized by focused attention, meaningful interaction, and a willingness to invest effort and resources towards achieving specific objectives or outcomes.
